Trader Joe’s loves Irish people

You know what makes a stand-up refrigerated case holding Smithwick’s ale and corned beef even better? Yes, a leprechaun shooting a rainbow out of his tiny bowler cap while doing a jig up on top of said stand-up refrigerated case holding Smithwick’s ale and corned beef.

That’s exactly why I cut out and painted a jolly little lad doing that very thing. I knew that Trader Joe’s was going to designate a few shelves worth of space to some Irish food items for Saint Patrick’s Day and they wanted something that would scream out to the customer, “Hey customer, I’d like you to take a gander (yes, a gander) at these here foods! They’re perfect for Saint Patty’s Day!”

I’d venture to say that people will definitely notice a 3’6″ leprechaun sporting a Conan O’Brien hairdo, dancing a jig on the meat case.

Here are some process shots of the sign from start to finish. I’ll post some pics when it’s up in the store.
